this will be a short one but i had to talk about so many things I saw on my shawdowing trip to Namuka.
First off on sunday when we were in church the missionaries were there to tithe so they called out each and eevry family in the parish and had them come up to give money to the missionaries.
I was revolted, ehre we have an island of such poor poor poeple and these churches are draining the omney formthem and for what? to build maybe a road or pave soem paths or bring running water to them? maybe they would like ways of treating lice or eye glasses but no they do it so the foreign churches can add more money to their own coffers and build more churches and schools to eridicate these poor peoples culture and gentirfy them to be the same as the europeans. The missionaries are the greatest plague on the third world, a parasite sucking culture and uniqueness form peoples and spreading their deseased religion to them instead. and just like the parisite they give nothing in return just a hollow corpse in the end.
I do like the community living that the poeople did, sharing every one shared and all the kids treated eachother the same. I t was refreshing but when everyone acts as a community no one tens to excell at anything. there is no foward progress. I dont have time to delve into this more but I am planning on writing more about community vs capitalism in the third world and beyond =) it is allsitting in my head wrote now
